Your support to the Alzheimer Society of Ottawa and Renfrew County will make a real difference as about 30% of its funding comes from government sources with the remaining 70% from caring people and groups in our community. Funds raised are used to support the 13,000 people with Alzheimer's disease and related dementias as well as their families, and to promote research. An estimated 500,000 Canadians have Alzheimer’s disease or a related dementia. Over 70,000 of them are under 65 years of age, and approximately 50,000 are under the age of 60. Within a generation, the number of Canadians with Alzheimer’s disease or a related dementia will more than double, ranging between 1 and 1.3 million people.
