Eye for Travel has put together a detailed Mobile Technology in Travel report. Through a series of case studies, it provides some great examples of how mobile applications are sweeping the travel industry. bitHeads was asked by Eye for Travel to contribute to the report as an expert on mobile application development best practices (see section starting on page 52). More detail on best practices is given in bitHeads’ white paper Mobile Application Development: Challenges and Best Practices.

bitHeads fails to SHOCK THE WORLD…

In a non-upset that nobody didn’t see not coming, bitHeads did not win OCRI’s Technology Company of the Year at the OCRI Awards last night.

Nobody here is too disappointed (we really weren’t expecting to win, after all), and we wholeheartedly congratulate SiGE for the big victory.

What’s worse is that I actually didn’t even get to go to the show (*shakesfist at Martian Death Cough*), so I didn’t get to go up on stage and make a total ass of myself like every other year. People had to put up with Ted getting up and saying nice things about people. I think we can all agree that that’s the real tragedy here.

Now if you’ll excuse me, it’s been an emotional night– I’m going to crawl into bed with a bottle of Ameretto.

If you’re looking for indicators that businesses are in trouble…

…then look no further than this.

Yes, bitHeads has been selected as a finalist for OCRI’s 2009 Technology Company of the Year.  Given that we’re in the final three, we’re pretty sure only four companies applied this year…and one of them was Jerry’s House of Organic Fudge.

Actually, we’re pretty proud to be selected as a finalist, especially after winning OCRI’s Service Company of the Year 2008. Yeah, we’re that awesome.

In any event, but would like to offer our congrats-in-advance to the winner, either SiGE or IDC. Both are great companies who represent Ottawa well on the world stage and either are very deserving of the title, along with all the prestige and power that goes along with the award (I think you also get ham and plaques).

That’s okay, we’re much more happy in the Loser’s Lounge, anyway…
