Highly scalable design drives innovative cloud-based enterprise solution

The Walter Meier Group is the leading global supplier of customer-specific solutions for air humidification. To support a complex reseller network distributed throughout North America, Nortec, a part of the Walter Meier group, developed a desktop application in the 1990’s that determined humidification loads and recommended products for specific applications.

When Nortec needed to significantly enhance the usability and workflow of this application they selected bitHeads to design and develop an innovative cloud-based solution. Our usability expertise combined with more than 15 years of customer software development experience meant that we designed an application that combines both the power of a complex engineering computations engine with a visually engaging and intuitive web user interface.

The application launched in 2012 is a scalable tool that gives a distributed indirect sales force complex estimation calculations that they can use to identify and sell the right humidification solution from a catalogue of hundreds of possible options.

“Nortec help was an extremely successful program in our business facilitating the sizing and selection of Nortec products. As part of our commitment to continually innovate and develop the highest quality products, we looked to bitHeads to help deliver a next generation solution leveraging the cloud. With our vision and bitHeads’ technical assistance we were able to provide our distribution partners and customers with richer services, enabling them to easily access the latest product information, quickly and accurately develop a bill of materials using an automated process, generate engineering drawings dynamically, improve calculation accuracy and do all of this anywhere, anytime via the web. Over the past two years, we have developed a close relationship with bitHeads and always felt they had our best interest in mind and will continue to partner closely with bitHeads in support of other key technical projects in 2013.” – Mike Hurley, VP Marketing, Nortec
